2023 CATES Educator's Conference
On Saturday, February 24th, AST was bustling with activities as over 160 educators serving in Taiwan international schools gathered at AST to participate in the inaugural CATES Educators' Conference!
Through the vision and leadership of its current president, Dr. Colin Brown (Head of School, AST), CATES organized its inaugural conference for educators in Taiwan. To ensure success, Jim Laney (Head of School, KAS), Sara Brodhead (Director of Teaching and Learning, KAS), Amanda Jacob (Dean of Teaching and Learning, TAS), Ann Lautrette (Deputy Head British Secondary and High School, TES) and Jen Sylvester (Director of Teaching and Learning, AST) were instrumental in supporting the organization of this first ever conference.
This conference featured over 30 workshops and a keynote address by Mr. Myron Dueck titled "Ask Them: Why Listening to our Students Matters." Additionally, WASC, the accreditation agency, conducted visiting team member training during the event. We are also grateful to WASC for sponsoring the luncheon.
With the participation of over 160 educators, this conference proved to be an invaluable platform for professional development, fostering networking opportunities, and facilitating the exchange of ideas among educators in Taiwan.
